Breast Enlargement & Implants

Saline Implants

Saline implants are a fluid-based implant with sterile salt water or saline solution within a silicone shell. Given that, saline implants are extremely flexible with volume choices and are typically considered safer due to the make up of the implant.

Saline implants are placed behind the breast tissue and pectoralis muscle for improvement in the size and appearance of the breasts.

Some Characteristics of Saline Breast implants:

  • Less Expensive
  • Liquid implant in silicone shell
  • Move volume choices
  • Can be used in women under 22 years of age
  • Ideal for larger patients with more implant coverage

Silicone Implants

Silicone implants, commonly referred to as “Gummy Bear Implants”, are a cohesive implant filled with silicone gel. Given that silicone implants are not liquid based, many women tend to prefer the more natural feeling that they provide.

Silicone implants are placed behind the breast tissue and pectoralis muscle for improvement in the size and appearance of the breasts.

Some Characteristics of Silicone breast implants:

  • More expensive
  • Cohesive implant
  • More natural feeling
  • Less risk of rippling
  • Ideal for smaller patients with smaller breasts

Breast Lifts or Mastopexy

Over time, the effects of gravity and the loss of the skin’s natural elasticity, combined with pregnancies and nursing, will often cause the breasts to lose their youthful shape and firmness. A breast lift, or mastopexy, is a surgical procedure to raise and reshape sagging breasts. The procedure can also reduce the size of the areola, (the darker skin surrounding the nipple).

Breast implants can be inserted along with a mastopexy, which can enhance the fullness and appearance of the lifted breast. Dr. Vega also performs his lift through a short scar or vertical technique which can reduce scarring and give a very natural shape to the breast.

Breast Reduction or Reduction Mammaplasty

Women with very large breasts frequently experience symptoms of back pain, shoulder pain, neck pain, grooving in the shoulders from bra straps, areas of rash under the breasts and difficulty performing athletic activities and finding the right clothing. For many women, especially younger girls in teenage years, this also leads to problems with self esteem.

Breast Reduction is a technique that reduces symptomatically large breasts by surgically removing glandular breast tissue, fat and skin. This results in lighter, smaller and more firm breasts which are better shaped and proportional to the entire body. The typical breast reduction incisions are in the shape of an anchor or inverted T, with most incisions hidden under the breasts. Optionally, you can go with the short scar or vertical scar technique which may result in fewer incisions, and potentially a longer lasting lift and roundness to the breasts.
