About
Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is designed to remove excess skin and fat or muscle from the upper and lower eyelids to open the eyes and enhance their appearance. It can be performed for functional loss of vision or for cosmetic reasons. The procedure can correct drooping upper lids caused by excess skin and correct lower lids that have fat bulging, fixing signs of early aging and refreshing a tired appearance. Upper lid surgery can be performed in the office and usually takes only about 1 hour.
Lower Eyelid surgery is more complex surgery and can be done in a surgical setting, taking about 90 minutes. Blepharoplasty can be done as a single procedure, or in conjunction with other facial surgery such as a facelift or a brow lift.
