Christina McDonald, Nurse Practitioner
Christina McDonald is excited to have joined Vega Plastic Surgery group. The last six years she has enjoyed working as a Nurse Practitioner at Geneva General Cardiology Associates. Prior to working in cardiology Christina earned her Master’s Degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner at St. John Fisher College in 2008.
From 2000-2008 Christina gained valuable experience while working on the Kessler burn/trauma unit at Strong Memorial Hospital. Throughout her career as a nurse her experiences include plastic/vascular surgery, ENT, bariatric surgery, as well as the burn/trauma population.
A 2000 Sigma Theta Tau graduate of Niagara University, Christina earned her bachelors of Science degree in nursing. As a native of Rochester, Christina is looking forward to working at Vega Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery as well as the Vega Medical Spa. She is excited to witness and take part in improving the men and women seen in our office.
She spends her spare time enjoying her family along with running, which is a passion of hers.
Ann Marie Ebling, Nurse Practitioner
Ann Marie is excited to have joined Vega Plastic Surgery and MedSpa as their third Nurse Practitioner. After nursing, Ann Marie continued her education, receiving her Adult Nurse Practitioner Master’s Degree from the University of Rochester in 1997. She subsequently went on to earn a Post Master’s Study in Child and Family Health in 2001.
Following graduation, she began working for the University of Rochester in the Department of Orthopedics where she spent time in the Spinal Cord Injury and Spine Surgery unit. Her duties involved the peri-operative care of the spine patient as well as assisting with surgeries in the operating room.
Following her time at the hospital, Ann Marie moved into the private practice setting and has spent most of her time specializing in Dermatology. She brings her nineteen years of experience in caring for skin. She has a wide knowledge base of all skin related illnesses with a focus on cosmetic procedures including cosmetic fillers and neurotoxins. In addition, she is experienced in skin resurfacing using lasers like the Sciton – which allows her to deliver great care to patients with acne and acne scarring concerns.
In addition to her vast experience with a variety of skin care modalities, Anne Marie is passionate about Cool Sculpting having seen the difference it can make in how clients feel about themselves. She is looking forward to sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm for delivering great patient care with the team, Dr. Vega and all his patients.
Ann Marie resides in Webster with her family and in her spare time enjoys exercising. When she’s not spinning, hiking or playing tennis you can find her relaxing poolside with her children (although “there’s never such a thing as a healthy tan.”) You may also be surprised to know that she relaxes by playing piano – a goal she set for herself and mastered as an adult.
Karen LeBlanc, Registered Nurse
Karen LeBlanc is a Registered Nurse who studied at Highland Hospital School of Nursing and Monroe Community College where she received her Nursing and Associate degrees. Karen has been a practicing Registered Nurse for 35 years, specializing in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery for the last 30 years. Karen brings her vast experience to our patients and provides them with the knowledge of all aspects of pre and post-operative care.
As a testament to her dedication to patient care, she has recently been nominated to be considered for the 2013 “Hearts and Hands” award, recognized by the Breast Cancer Coalition.
She is a native of Rochester, NY. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Carol Hankin, Licensed Aesthetician
Carol Hankin, a NYS Licensed Esthetician, joined Vega Med Spa in December 2014 as a medical aesthetician with over 11 years of experience helping people in the community with their aesthetic concerns. She is exceptionally talented in skin care treatments and procedures and is known for the personal attention she gives to each client.
She offers a full spectrum of premium skin care services including skin care consultations, facials, chemical peels, laser hair removal, microdermabrasion, acne treatments, makeup application and depilatories.
Carol spends time with each patient or client, helping them choose the perfect medical-grade skin care products that address their specific needs and concerns. Taking the time to “explain” the science behind the products and services makes her a wonderful resource and we’re excited to have her join the Vega Med Spa team. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, running, reading and her dog, Henry.
Frequently Asked Questions
What happens when I decide to schedule cosmetic surgery?
Our office will mail you a packet containing an explanation of your surgery, as well as an itemized list of all the fees and where to submit the payments. You’ll also receive mailings from the hospital or surgical center where you’re having the surgery done. Typical fees are described below:
1. Surgeon Fee. We will bill you for the surgeon’s fee. Because this is an elective surgery and not covered by insurance, payment must be made in full at your pre-operative appointment, which is usually 3 weeks prior to surgery. Payment may be made either by certified bank check or credit card (Visa®, MasterCard® or Discover® Card).
2. Operating Room Fee. This is a separate billing, sent to you by the hospital or surgical facility for the operating room charges. Payment in full is expected at least 7 days prior to your surgery date.
3. Anesthesiologist Fee. The anesthesiologist caring for you will also send you a separate bill for his services. Payment should also be made at least 7 days prior to your surgery date.
Do I need to have any tests done before surgery?
All pre-admission information will be sent to you from the hospital or surgical unit that you have chosen. You will receive all necessary forms along with pre-surgery instructions.
Pre-admission testing should be completed at least 2 days but not more than 30 days before your scheduled surgery.
On the day of your pre-admission testing, please be sure to bring the completed paperwork that was sent to you and a complete list of your current medications.
What if I need to cancel my surgery?
If you cancel your scheduled surgery within 7 days of the scheduled date, 50% of your surgical payment will be non-refundable.
Are cosmetic surgeons and plastic surgeons the same thing?
Not necessarily. Physicians may perform cosmetic surgery without necessarily being certified by a relevant specialty board. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons published an informative article on this topic; we encourage anyone considering such a procedure to read it before selecting a surgeon.
