What is cosmetic surgery?

Cosmetic surgery focuses on enhancing appearance, symmetry, and proportion of the face or body. It is typically elective and not medically necessary, unlike reconstructive surgery, which addresses medical conditions.

What happens during a consultation?

During your consultation, the surgeon will:

  • Review your medical history
  • Discuss your goals and expectations
  • Perform a physical evaluation
  • Recommend appropriate procedures
  • Explain risks, benefits, costs, and recovery

This is also your opportunity to ask questions.

Note: A non-refundable $100 consultation fee is due at the time of booking.

Are non-surgical treatments available?

Yes.  Non-surgical or minimally invasive treatments include:

  • Botox and dermal fillers
  • Chemical peels
  • Laser treatments
  • Skin tightening and resurfacing

These options usually have little to no downtime but may provide temporary results.

Do I need to have any tests before surgery?

This depends on your health history and the facility’s requirements.

What kind of aftercare is required?

Aftercare may include:

  • Wearing compression garments
  • Taking prescribed medications
  • Attending follow-up appointments
  • Avoiding strenuous activity during healing

Proper aftercare is crucial for optimal results.

What if I need to cancel my surgery?

For cosmetic surgery, payment is due in full at the pre-op appointment. If payment is not received on time, the surgery will be canceled.  To book cosmetic surgery, a $500 deposit is required. If cancelled with 3 weeks notice, $250 will be refunded. If cancelled with less than 14 BUSINESS days’ notice, the full deposit is forfeited.

What are my financing options for cosmetic surgery?

Financing options are available to help you finance your procedure. This information is provided to our patients as a courtesy, but our practice does not endorse or have any affiliation with any financing company.

Surgeon Fee. We will bill you for the surgeon’s fee. Because this is elective surgery and not covered by insurance, a $500.00 deposit will be required to book your elective surgery. The remaining amount must be made in full at your pre-operative appointment, which is usually 3 weeks prior to surgery. Payment may be made either by certified bank check or credit card (Visa®, MasterCard® or Discover® Card).

Operating Room Fee. This is separate billing, sent to you by the surgical facility for the operating room charges. Payment in full is expected at least 7 days prior to your surgery date.

Anesthesia Fee. The anesthesia group caring for you will also send you a separate bill for their services. Payment should also be made at least 7 days prior to your surgery date.

CareCredit offers no-interest and low-interest payment plans. There is no cost to enroll and no monthly fees. Vega Plastic Surgery only accepts their options for no interest if paid in full in 6 or 12  months.

PatientFi is a loan that can be used strictly with Vega Plastic Surgery. Financing & Interest depends on the amount of the transaction.  If not paid in the promotional period, the deferred interest is calculated based on the original transaction amount added to the balance owed.

Note: Financing cannot be used for anesthesia or facility fees.

What is insurance‑covered surgery?

Insurancecovered surgery refers to procedures that are considered medically necessary to diagnose, treat, or manage a health condition. Coverage is determined by your insurance plan and medical documentation—not by patient preference.

Who decides whether a surgery is covered?

Your insurance company makes the final determination based on:

  • Medical necessity
  • Your insurance plan benefits
  • Clinical notes and documentation
  • Imaging, test results, or prior treatments

Your surgeon provides the required medical justification, but approval is not guaranteed.

Is prior authorization required?

Many insurance plans require prior authorization (preapproval) before surgery. This process confirms that the procedure meets coverage criteria before it is scheduled.

Will insurance cover all of my surgery costs?

Not always. You may still be responsible for:

  • Deductibles
  • Copayments
  • Coinsurance
  • Noncovered services

Coverage varies by plan.

Post-op care is included in your surgery fee. Charges may apply for unrelated issues or services outside of the global post-op period.
