Melinda MacCormack, RPA-C

Melinda MacCormack, RPA-C, is a nationally certified physician assistant whose career in plastic and reconstructive surgery spans nearly two decades. She has worked alongside Dr. Vega since 2008 and officially joined Vega Plastic Surgery & MedSpa in 2022, bringing extensive operating room experience and a deep understanding of what it means to care for patients during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives.

Melinda knew early on that she wanted to work in medicine. Growing up, her own pediatric PA made a lasting impression, spending real time with her, listening closely and making her feel genuinely heard. That experience planted the seed. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Health Science and Master of Physician Assistant degrees from the Rochester Institute of Technology and has been NCCPA board-certified since 2008. During her clinical rotations, she fell in love with surgery, inspired by the mentors she worked under during her first surgical position.

Her Expeertise

A Surgeon's Right Hand

Melinda assists Dr. Vega and Dr. Farkas in all aspects of surgery and performs several procedures independently, including lesion removal, nipple reconstruction, earlobe repair and scar revisions. Breast reconstruction and breast reduction are among the most common procedures she performs with Dr. Vega, and of all the work she does, breast reconstruction is the most meaningful to her.

“It’s an honor to help restore something a patient has lost due to cancer and watch them rediscover confidence,” Melinda says.

Her experience across reconstructive and aesthetic surgery gives her a perspective that benefits every patient she sees. She doesn’t look at an isolated concern. She sees the whole person, and that broader view helps her guide patients thoughtfully through their options, focusing on outcomes and the subtle details that make the difference between a good result and one that truly feels like you.

One detail that often surprises patients: many procedures can be performed safely in our office without general anesthesia. Upper and lower blepharoplasty, mini facelifts, lesion removal, scar revisions, nipple reconstruction and select fat grafting procedures are all options Melinda discusses during consultations, giving you a clearer picture of what’s possible and what recovery actually looks like.

No Pressure, No Rush, No Expectations

Melinda starts every consultation with a simple conversation. She wants to hear your goals, answer your questions and offer honest guidance before any exam begins. She encourages patients to come in with their biggest priority rather than a long list of concerns so they can get the most out of their consultation. “Narrowing down what matters most helps us focus and gives you the most value from your visit,” she explains.

From there, she walks you through all available treatment options, the risks and benefits of each, expected recovery and cost. No surprises, no pressure. When it comes to artistry, Melinda believes facelifts demand the most. “Our goal is to restore youth while preserving identity. The best compliment our patients receive isn’t that they look ‘done.’ It’s that they look rested, like they’ve just come back from vacation.”

About Melinda MacCormack

Calm, Grounded and Always in Your Corner

Patients consistently describe Melinda as someone who makes them feel heard. Whether it’s offering a tissue during a difficult conversation or sharing a laugh during a follow-up, she meets you where you are emotionally. One breast cancer patient, when asked during a post-op visit if anything had changed with her health, smiled and replied, “My breasts haven’t grown back yet.” Moments like that remind Melinda why she does this work.

One patient shared in a testimonial: “Shout out to Melinda who just did my last procedure, amazing easy going to talk to very professional hands-down, the best practice.”

Outside the Office

When she’s not in the OR or clinic, Melinda enjoys spending time outdoors with her family. Camping, gardening and unplugging in nature are how she stays grounded and recharged.

Trust That’s Earned in the Moments That Matter Most

“I think it’s an honor to be trusted during such vulnerable moments in a patient’s life,” Melinda says. “It makes me genuinely happy when patients are surprised by their results and feel even better than they expected.”
